More than 6,000 educators and science advocates gather each fall for the Science Teachers Association of Texas’ annual Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching, or CAST. If you’ve attended one of STAT’s past conferences, you know that CAST is a three-day festival of all things science—and that the success of CAST depends on the collaborative spirit of the Texas science education community.

We need educators like you to share your best ideas for all grade levels and subject areas during our hundreds of breakout sessions. The CAST 2018 Call for Proposals will open in May. Prepare to submit your best interactive, informative and engaging session for CAST 2018. Presentations can cover a broad range of topics, including content, lesson plans, pedagogy, assessment and more.

Proposal Process

STAT is dedicated to ensuring that our members and event attendees are provided with the highest level of professional development and training possible. To ensure our event is a meaningful and unique learning experience, a committee of science educators will review and select workshop sessions in partnership with the STAT staff.

Proposals will be reviewed by multiple committee members and scored in areas such as:

  • Quality of proposal
  • Topic relevance and audience appeal
  • Alignment with TEKS and grade level
  • Speaker qualifications

STAT members will receive an email when the Call for Proposals opens in May, and the announcement will be posted on the STAT website and social media.

Exhibitor Proposals

We understand that the opportunity to educate attendees while demonstrating products and services is important to your participation with STAT at CAST. It is our intention to ensure that all STAT and CAST educational offerings are of the highest quality and remain relevant to the educators, administrators and coordinators we serve.

The updated Policies of Exhibition, including the Call for Proposals process, was developed with the input of our volunteer leadership, partners and other stakeholders. Exhibitor proposals will be submitted and reviewed using the same process, standards and timeline as all other proposals. Acceptance is not guaranteed with the purchase of your booth. We are excited to work with new and returning exhibitors to discuss new ways you can engage with STAT at CAST and throughout the year to ensure your products and knowledge are delivered to our members.

Any presenting company or organization with commercial or financial interest in engaging with our members and attendees must be represented at the event as an exhibitor and/or sponsor of the event. Collection of any attendee information including, but not limited to names, email addresses and phone numbers is prohibited outside of the presenting company’s exhibit space and/or other area determined acceptable by STAT.
